Gabriela Glăvan:     Hypostases of Urmuz Model. Grigore Cugler

The study explores the writings of Grigore Cugler, one of the most interesting Romanian exiled writers of the first half of the 20th century. Too often considered a less significant presence in the Romanian literary canon,  Cugler’s work  has been re-read lately in a new light, that of a polymorphous imaginary inhabited by eerie anti-heroes and strange caricatures resembling Urmuz’s protagonists and his Bizzare Pages. The analytical aim of the study is to place Cugler in the horizon of the Romanian and European avant-garde and in a close relation to Urmuz’s literary revolution.
