Gender Studies is  a journal published under the joint aegis of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Gender Studies and the English Department at the University of the West in Timișoara. The ICGS, in its turn, was created as the institutional framework that would enable teaching and research in the area of Gender Studies. The first issue was published in 2002 and over the last nine years we have permanently worked towards improving and upholding its scientific standards. We have thus invited well-known specialists in the field from the CEE region (including Romania), from Europe and USA to act as advisors and have also set great store by improving the quality and standards of the process of peer-reviewing.

The journal is a yearly publication and a number of articles are selected each year from among the papers presented at the BAS international conference (held over the third weekend in May each year). The Gender Studies Section has grown from year to year so that for the 20th edition of the BAS conference, last year, over 30 papers have been presented in the GS section. Papers presented at various symposia and panels organized by ICGS are also submitted for publication.
