The Faculty of Letters, History and Theology yearly organizes The Romanian Language, Culture and Civilization Summer School.

Having in view the present pandemic situation, this year’s edition will be held online, relying on the digital educational resources Google Suite (Google Classroom, Google Meet, etc.) and the digital platform Moodle (E-learning) which belongs to the West University of Timisoara: elearning.e-uvt.ro.

The courses address all foreigners interested in the Romanian language and culture, in particular students who study Romance Languages, translators, cultural promoters, employees who work for companies having a direct contact with Romania etc.



In 2021, the Summer School will be organized online between July 19thand 31st 2021.

What do we offer?
● The possibility to study or to improve your Romanian language, using digital instruments and up-to-date teaching techniques.
● A team of well-prepared and open to dialogue teachers.
● Introduction to Romanian studies, focusing on intriguing historical and regional cultural issues, starting from the unquestionable multi-cultural and multi-ethnic tradition of Timisoara.
● Language courses organized at three levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and targeted at improving speaking skills (conversation) and practice.
● Several cultural activities which will be held online and which aim at discovering the country and the Romanian people.
● The chance to interact with people interested in Romania and to make new friends.

The number of hours:
● 40 hours of Romanian Language (teaching-learning: 4 hours daily).
● 20 hours of supplementary learning activities: Romanian language workshops (conversation and vocabulary; oral discourse; written communication), cultural workshops which will be held online.


What does a daily schedule look like?
Monday-Friday:
Intensive language courses – 9.00-11.00
Break – 11.00-11.30
Intensive language courses – 11.30-13.30
Break – 13.30-17.00
Romanian language workshops (conversation and vocabulary – beginners; oral discourse and written communication – intermediate and advanced) / culture-oriented workshops held online – 17.00-19.00



Costs
Tuition fee (online edition): 250 EUR
The tuition fee covers: the courses and the supplementary learning activities, the materials used.
Tuition fee payment: after receiving the answer of acceptance from the organisers.

Deadline: June 1st 2021
Deadline for the tuition fee payment (in the account indicated in the form): June 7th-14th 2021.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

The students enrolled in a German university who wish to join the The Romanian Language, Culture and Civilization Summer School 2021 can apply for a Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) grant in the program „Go-East Summer Schools 2021” .

The applicants are supposed to apply both to the summer school, for participation, and to DAAD, for the grant.
Deadline (for DAAD applicants): May 5th 2021.
