The Faculty of Letters and History is one of the largest in the University of the West Timisoara. It has a unitary management and administration, therefore a well defined and objective organizing structure.

Our faculty has ten departments grouped around three scientific areas: Philology, Humanistic Sciences and Information Sciences. Each department can have one or more sections.

According to the latest organizing methodology and the directions of the European Union, starting with the third year, each department diversifies its activity, offering the students the possibility to choose between two or more modules comprising major subjects specific to each department.

The Faculty of Letters and History wants to initiate and continue the education of students according to the high quality tradition of the Romanian academia that has, however, moulded on European and international standards. The main jobs we prepare our students for are: teachers, translators, museum researchers, editors, journalists, librarians, archaeologists, etc.

The Faculty of Letters and History is the biggest in the University and this is why it is structured on several departments. The profile is a humanistic one, the educational process lasting for four years and ending with a B.A. Postgraduate programs are offered as a one-year or a two-year Master’s degree.
