The following
may enroll for the entrance examination to the Faculty of Letters and History:
-
high
school graduates with a baccalaureate diploma
(or an equivalent),
-
students who want to take a second
major degree (and who have passed all the exams at the end of the academic
year 200.../200...),
-
graduates with a BA degree from
another faculty, and
-
graduates with a degree for a
three-year program of higher education who want to complete their studies.
Only men are
allowed to enroll for a major degree in Orthodox Theology.
High school
graduates with a baccalaureate diploma who have been granted honors at
international competitions or the first award at national competitions in at
least one of the two previous academic years (200.../200..., 200.../200...) are
qualified for admission to university without taking an entrance examination,
within the number of subsidized places, for a single or a two-subject combined
major degree in the subjects for which they have received awards.
The
files of the candidates must be submitted to the Rector’s Office at the
University of the West of Timişoara before July, 200....

1.
Candidates register for the entrance examination at the secretariat of the
Faculty of Letters and History and at the secretariat of the Faculty of Orthodox
Theology respectively.
2. In order to register for the
entrance examination, candidates will fill in an application form to which
three identity-card-size photos and the following documents will be
attached in a file:
-
the
baccalaureate diploma
or an equivalent, in original; candidates who have registered for entrance
examination at another faculty, as well, will submit a certified copy of the
baccalaureate diploma and a copy of the entrance examination card they have
received from the other faculty, copy which will be certified by the
secretariat, on condition that the original card is also provided;
-
birth
certificate
(a certified copy);
-
health certificate;
-
men:
military records (recruitment certificate or service record);
-
students who
want to take another major degree: a certificate which testifies
that, at the end of the summer session of exams, they have passed all their
exams in the academic year 200.../200...;
-
a BA
degree or an
equivalent, i.e. a degree for a short-term program of higher education,
in original, or a certified copy of the above documents in the case of those
who want to enroll for a second major degree, as well as a transcript of
records in the case of candidates who want to continue their studies;
-
documents
necessary for candidates who apply for exemption from the entrance examination
registration fee: certified copies after the parents’ death certificates, a
certificate from the children’s home they belong to, a certified copy after
either parent’s certificate of participation in the 1989 Revolution, or a
certificate that proves that one of the parents is a teacher.
Candidates who
register for major degrees in Orthodox Theology will submit a letter of
intention, a baptism certificate, a letter of recommendation from the rector of
the parish they belong to, as well as the written agreement of the Archbishopric
or Bishopric they belong to.
3. The
entrance examination registration fee (for all categories of candidates)
will be posted. Candidates will pay the fee upon registration and they will
receive a receipt.
Candidates who
will be rejected during the first or the second stage of the entrance
examination will not receive a refund of the registration fee.
4. Candidates
must write all their options for major degrees in the application form. The exam
papers for all major degrees will be taken in Romanian.
The rejected
candidates will be given back their papers upon request, on condition that they
present their identity papers.

The Faculty of
Letters and History has a material and logistic support at European
standards , offering students several specific laboratories (informatics, modern
languages, phonetics, terminotics, film making multimedia, VIFAX, etc) and other
multimedia materials.
All laboratories
are connected to the Internet and the Central University Library
database but, because of the lack of space and staff, access is permitted only
during classes, with the approval and under the supervision of the teacher.
The entire
computer network of the Faculty of Letters and History is administered by a
server that is controlled and handled by the Center of Communication and
Information, director: Marinel Iordan (room 150 B).
