The German
Department was founded in 1956, being one of the first sections of the
University of Timisoara. The graduate students of the department have become
teachers and researchers in the field of German language and literature,
teaching German both as mother tongue and as a foreign language, working as
translators, editors, literary advisors, reporters, librarians, PR managers,
staff managers in important institutions, or employed by embassies, consulates
and other German and Austrian institutions in Romania.
The department
has 18 teachers (professors, associate professors, lecturers, assistant
lecturers), visiting professors from Germany and Austria and it also benefits
from the cooperation of guest professors and other remarkable personalities from
Romania or from abroad.
Since 1996, The
German department has been organizing international conferences and has been
editing a collective volume, Temeswarer Beiträge zur Germanistik,
celebrated both in Romania and abroad.
Duration of
study:
The entrance exam
consists of one written paper (see the annual brochure of the Faculty).
